FROM MAGNUS TO YOU

Magnus’s Fishing Column

 

Good day to all. This will be the first instance of the new big thing: Magnus’s Fishing Column. This is and will be the go-to series for dedicated FARIN listeners who are not particularly interested in fishing. Like me.

 

As this is the premiere of this column, we will start with the most basic of knowledge: how to tie the fishing lure to the fishing line. This knowledge was passed down from my father’s father to my father and eventually to me. It’s also a quick search on YouTube.


This knot is called a “clinch knot”, or “fisherman’s knot” in some cultures, and it’s the most common one. You start by threading the main line through the hole. If you’re of the anxious type, you can also thread it twice. Thereafter, you twine the line around the main line 4-5 times before you thread it back through the loop(s) you created at the start and lastly through the loop you just created from the top to the bottom of the knot. Now comes the kicker. You spit on the knot to lubricate the line and tighten the knot. The key is to not pull the end of the line as you tighten, but rather tighten by pulling the main line and the lure.

 

There you go. You now know how to tie a clinch knot, I hope. If not, send me a mail or something idk.

Henriks Fire Feite diett

Dette er en diett laget for fattige, lange, og tynne bassister med diabetes, som har godt av å legge på seg ett par ekstra kilo.

Måltid 1. FROKOST Start dagen med fire brødskiver av typen grovt brød smurt med leverpostei av typen "Stabburet". Det har ikke noe å si om det er et bilde av en jentunge eller en guttunge på leverposteiboksen, selv om smaken kan være forskjellig. Benytt deg gjerne også av krydder som salt og pepper, da dette vil heve både smak og blodtrykk.

Måltid 2. LUNSJ Når du kjenner en vibrerende eller "romlende" følelse i magen et par timer etter frokost, er det beste du kan gjøre å smøre fire brødskiver av typen grovt brød. Dette måltidet kalles ofte "lunsj", fordi det launcher deg videre gjennom dagen. Pålegget til måltid 2., eller "lunsj", er kokt skinke. I gode økonomiske tider kan du spe på med litt ost av typen Norvegia også.

Måltid 3. MIDDAG Aaah nå er det endelig middag, eller "midt på dagen", igjen ja! Du er nå sliten, sulten, og du trenger ett stykke kjøtt å stikke tenna i. Som en løve smyger du deg inn på Coop Mega Carl Berner for kjøpe deg en hel grillet kylling. Kjøp også hjertesalat, cherrytomater og fetaost. Husk å titte inn på kaffebrenneriet på vei ut, i tilfelle hun der pene som jobber i kassa er der. Kjøp i såfall en kaffe av henne. Middagen er altså kylling og no salat. Lomper med smør kan benyttes som tilbehør.

Måltid 4. KVELDSMAT Etter en lang dag er du nok engang fylt opp av skam, selvforakt og elendighet... Men det er ikke fullt før du får i deg fire brødskiver med makrell i tomat av typen "Stabburet". Et annet alternativ er å drikke deg å full, for så å kjøpe en kylling-shwarma-tallerken på Carl Berner Grill, eller Majorstua Grill. Vær forsiktig med sausen hos sistenevnte. Etter ett år på Fire Feite må jeg helt ærlig si at livet mitt har endret seg totalt. Prøv det sjøl, så lover jeg at du vil mørne et høl. Minst!

For this edition, I am putting on my music curation hat as nothing gives me more of a kick than finding a new banger to dance into the sunset with. In hopes of bringing on that same kick to you dear reader, I present Nikki's three song recommendations!

### Amour, t´es la? - Banda Magda

I have recently committed a lot of time to learning French. Learning with the Pimsleur method and currently holding a 90-day Duolingo streak that I am very proud of! I have been using this song to practice reading with, and have been putting it on to transport myself to this beautiful country de beauté while eating my petit déjeuner. Grab a baguette and give this amazing tune a listen!

### To the mountains - BIGBANG

The last few weeks, Caroline and I have been roaming around in the mountains with our campervan, Sid Arthur. When we've been feeling a little low on energy and are tired of driving, we have been putting this song on and boom, the energy is back! It makes me feel like a little mountain cowboy, with my wool poncho, singing our hearts out to this tune. Recommended for getting your daily fix of rock 'n' roll, with your headphones of choice on, feeling like you're living in a movie.

### Cinnamon Temple - Hiatus Kaiyote

Since I was a little mini guitarist, I have been listening to this band, and this summer they released a new album, and as you can imagine, I have listened to it. A lot. This tune is a powerhouse of crazy stuff going on, and the whole album is well worth a listen. I have made a playlist that you can find on our Spotify page called Bubbly Sourdoughs. There you can listen to Cinnamon Temple and other amazing songs that inspired the creation of our debut album THE BAKERY. Go save the playlist for yourself if you’re in need of some new musical inspiration!

FROM TORBJØRN TO YOU

 “The man in black fled across the dessert, and the gunslinger followed”

The remarkable opening sentence in the gut wrenching series “the dark tower” written by Stephen King.

 Roland, the last gunslinger finds the young New Yorker Jake, Son of Elmer, passed out and alone in the sand. Jake and the gunslinger find comfort in each other and the two of them join forces in the hunt for the man in black.

After Jake´s second death, Roland must fight the fight alone.  

 

In the second book “The Drawing of The Three”, Roland must gather a crew to join him in his quest for the dark tower: Odetta Holmes, Eddie Dean and Jake Chambers, who gets a third chance at life. On the outskirts of the city Lud, Jake befriended a billy-bumbler named Oy. An ever-loving, four legged and loyal dog-like companion.

 

All this to say: In FARIN I think that Henrik Bakka is Oy.

FROM CAROLINE ANGORINE TO YOU

Favorite sourdough cardamon buns with raspberries

Super proud of this recipe I´ve created for summer and life lovers. Everyone who eats it gets butterflies in their belly and super speed in their feet. Let me know how it goes.

The dough:

350 g oat milk

160 g sourdough starter

710 g sifted wheat flour

70 g brown sugar

40 g of honey

1 tsp cardamom seeds (freshly ground)

1 teaspoon of salt

110 g room-temperature plant-based butter

The filling:

80 g room-temperature plant-based butter

40 g brown sugar

40 g coconut sugar

6 g cardamom seeds (freshly ground)

200 g white chocolate (chopped)

Fresh raspberries

Sugar water:

Mix 2 tablespoons of brown sugar or honey in half a cup of warm water for brushing at the end of the process.

This is what you do tudeluuu….

<3 Mix all the dry ingredients together. Dissolve the liquid with the active sourdough starter. Then add the honey.

<3 raise 30 min, turn the dough over, raise 30 min, turn the dough over, rise for 30 min, turn the dough over. Then raise 1 h untouched

<3 Mix together the filling

<3 Roll out the dough to 1/2 cm thickness, spread out the filling, then fold the other half over. Cut three cm wide strips. Twist the strips, tie a knot as shown in the picture. Place the buns on a baking tray, or in a steel muffin tin. Cover with a tea towel, let rise at room temperature for 8 hours until they have almost doubled in size.

<3 Bake the buns at 222 degrees for about 15 minutes on top and bottom heat

<3 When the buns come out, brush with sugar water. Wait until the buns have cooled before enjoying
